Re: Tonnage for crank press ?

Kevin Cameron once mentioned a figure of 7 tons for Yamaha TZ250/350/750 press fits, the KR-1(S) crank shouldn't be very much different.

Re: Front fork length.

I'm trying to avoid using any valved horror parts for my project if at all possible, Bernie, though the GSX-R fork caps with the adjustable rebound fittings would be a necessary compromise. Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha valved horror parts are acceptable, but definitely NO H#$@a parts whatsoever!

Re: Front fork length.

No, standard vj22 without adjustable compression and rebound damping, Bernie, though the internals are White Power goodies according to the previous owner. Adding adjustable compression damping is probably not possible (at the very least it would require significant and costly machining, I suspect),...

Re: Front fork length.

Thanks for the replies, 722 mm makes them the same length as my vj22 RGV fork legs.

Re: Carbs & Parts Suppliers

Thanks for the info on the parts source; I need some stuff for my 35 mm PWKs as they are KX125 carbs and will require different jets to suit a KR.

Re: Photobucket

Thanks for the Firefox instructions, seems to work! Nevertheless I'll still continue to transfer all my photos from Photobucket and when that's completed permanently delete my account.

Re: KR-1, KR-1S WORLD REGISTRY -Models, Frame Production Numbers

To add the number of my KR-1 frame to the list: KR250B004846. It has a German-language type plate riveted onto the steering head in addition to the number stamped into the steering head, though I didn't buy the frame in Germany. My second crankcase set is KR250BE007117. Both my crankcase sets are fr...

Re: MCN

I'm not sure whether I agree with the statement in the PS article that only about 180 KR-1Rs were made. My Japanese Parts Catalogue for C1/C2 (1S) and D1/D2 (1R) lists the frame numbers for the D1 as from KR250C-300001 to 300500, and the frame numbers for the D2 as from 300501 up. This would indicat...

Re: brake discs

The GS500E's rear wheel is only a 3.50 x 17, so it would be a retrograde step. A 600 Bandit's rear wheel is a 4.50 like the RGV's though you would have to sort out the spacers, disc, brake caliper carrier etc.

Re: Steering damper

The steering damper is on the RH side on H1s and H2s so that's what I'm used to- and it is possible to adjust it while riding! I've checked all the KR parts catalogues I have (including three Japanese) and have found no indication of a steering damper bracket. Was it an aftermarket part rather than ...
