KH 250 possible purchase

Post by Binetta Steve » Sat Oct 08, 2016 7:59 pm

Looking at 1977 kh 250 for sale fairly locally, bit pricy, what the view, its a lot older than my KR1S and doesnt seem to have had any bottom end work. Fancy a second two stroke to add to the stable am I looking too early ?

Many thanks
Steve

Only you can answer these questions Steve. Personally I wouldn't mind one or maybe a 400. What is the condition like and how much?

Hi Ben its close to £5k, great condition, no rebuilds so far, lots of MOT's and service history. Appx 20,000 miles which makes me think its due a bottom end check. Paintwork is good.
Reason for asking is on the bay prices 3 to 6 K and no real explanation / logic for the asking price?

Im guessing 3 pots so 1.5 times more expensive than a KR to work on ?

that does seem high to me, but I'm no expert on the KH and especially what they fetch. I would have expected £3k-£3.5k, so would shop around and get one at a good price. I always thought there were more KH's around than KR-1S', maybe I'm wrong hence the high price.

I expect that many of the 250 Triples were ridden into the ground- in the UK they were learner's bikes. It's quite possible that even 250s in very good original condition are rarely for sale now, what with the S2, S3 H1 and H2 snapped up by enthusiasts and hardly available and the S1s now getting attention. Consequently, prices are going up.

Theres a chap in the VJMC I know who has one, ive been out with him a couple of times on it, its a lovely bit of kit , the air cooled engine sounds fab cooling down as well as on pipe, the paint on them is really stunning and they are far more comfy than a KR1!

By chance the bikes ended up together at the Donington VJMC stand after the parade lap, seems to me the price of the bigger bikes has pulled up the smaller ones but I think a KH is a great addition alongside anything more focused like a KR1, id like one thats for sure.

Hi Steve,

I love all the Kawasaki triples, they are something special.
A couple of my mates used to race the Suzuki T500, they used to perform very well.

Cheers,
Bernie :)

Faark youre not wrong ... not really any supply in NZ and thought no demand either...
I saw this just yesterday $5k start no bids - later in evening after one bid spooked someone to buynow at $7500 (£4125)

There are three Dream 50's advertised at present in UK , prices vary from £5k to £8 for a Dream 50R. Most are unregisted and have sat in collections. It just seems such a pity not to ride a bike you own.

Ben went to see this today. Its quite nice, unfortunately the "friday lad" knew nothing of its history. Whilst I was there I spotted a 72 S1A they are doing up in gold. Again looked good but loads of bits missing.
So two days to go until Saturday and Stafford. Another dose of the stunning and the shabby!

Anyone off here going down on Saturday
