How do you get the spring off??

Post by SP_BOTT »

Need to stip a rear shock for a clean and paint, can't wind down the platforms enough to release tension. the reservoir fitting hits them before it's loose. Obviously can't move the fitting as it will loose pressure, what's the secret???
Cheers

unbolt the reservoir fitting

and while it's off, have the shock serviced, it'll work a lot better

If you dont know when the oil was last changed,or regassed it probably need's doing,as Jan said.
If you cant be arsed with that and only want to make it look pretty you can undo the banjo just enough to move the hose out the way.
you wont lose pressure as the nitrogen is in the reservior in bladder,
obviously if you indo it too much oil will come out ,but not nitrogen.
Personally i would strip and rebuild it though, see thread on this at top of this section.
