Swing arm spindle

Post by skinnybob »

Just beginning refurb on my KR1S and even though the spindle spins free I can't get the bolt out. Any tricks or anything I'm missing?

There is a sleeve between the bearings in the swingarm, and unfortunately the bolt often gets seized/rusted into it. You can try using a penetrating lubricant like WD40 to help, but it seems that when it's at this stage it often needs to be pressed out. You could take it to an engineering shop to do this, or get creative with a scissor jack and some blocks of wood in a doorway as one of our members has done previously.
