Suspension Linkage Bearings

Post by douglasg »

I have just taken appart the suspension linkage on my KR1-S, and have a question.

The parts list and workshop manual show needle roller bearings in the linkage, however when I took mine appart these all appear to have been replaced with nylon bushes.

Does anyone know why this would have been done?

Probably cost, I had nylon bushes made up for my RGV arm. Bearings often sieze up on old KR1 swingarms and are a pig to get the sleeves out

As Scooble says, probably cost.

I should imagine they are/were 'raymax' items, they're ok but obviously not built to last.

I would just replace the knackered items with either new items/nos items/replica items or just use the 'plastic' bits you have.

And as Scooble also mentions, certain parts are hard to get hold of now-a-days
