Chain Tension

Post by headcoats »

I know this seems like a pretty simple thing but just need to run it across you folks
I have been riding a belt driven Buell for 11 years so be gentle

In my opinion to set the chain i find the tight spot and put a little blob of red paint on it so i can easily spot it
I then sit on the bike so suspension is compressed and mess about to get the correct chain tension that way.
Question is when i have my weight on the bike should the chain still have the 30 to 40mm play in it ?
Can it yer old boiler

That's pretty much the way I do it HC but I try for a max of 30mm.

Its a lot easier to get it exact if you get a mate of equal-ish weight to sit on it though.

Problem I have is all my mates are a lot heavier than me & now my wifes lost all the weight she put on, I'm back to sitting on my own bikes
