Brake fluids!

Post by Marty_Rillo »

Noo den!!! ( hello in shetland,)
What brake fluid do you guys use?
Dot 4 or dot5 or dot5.1?
I use dot 4 on my bikes normally,
But I have two completely empty brake systems and I've seen people using dot 5 as it doesn't absorb water as bad, and it doesn't mark paint as bad either?

Also, do you guys get venhill brake lines or goodridge?
Cheers Martin.

I stripped the brakes down last winter and rebuilt them with dot 5, but only because that's all I could grab from the shop on the way home that day.. Mines got standard brake lines on it.

Brake pressure is a little soft and testing in the garage the lever will nearly touch the bar with a really hard pull but if I did that on the road I'd be sliding on my arse! brakes bite really well and plenty of lever travel give plenty of feel I think. Personal preference I think. Biggest factor to my ind is what pads you go for.
