Tandem Con rods & pistons availability / alternatives?

Hi all,
I have my eye on a couple of KRs for sale here in Oz.
Both seemingly complete but not running.
Before I take the plunge & relive my misspent youth. A couple of questions someone here might be able to answer.
It seems that new con rods & pistons are unavailable? Has anyone found an alternative?
Are there any other unobtainable major components I should be wary of?

Haven't seen the bikes in the flesh yet(3hr drive away), got photos though. One seems complete, supposed to have run a couple of years ago, & the other is supposed to be complete but head & barrels are off.
I'm located in QLD Australia.
Also know a guy who needs con rods for a KR I think he has had since new.

Any help greatly appreciated.
Skye

Hi mate.
Getting original pistons is impossible.
The way to go is Cagiva mito piston and rod.
We have three KR250's. One we ran and sold and the other two sit there waiting restoration.

We can also do engine work if you need it.
Like o-ring the barrel so no head gasket and raise the compression.
Porting and other work :D

Thanks for the reply.
Is the Mito rod a straight swap for the original?
Can the Mito rod be used with original pistons? (not that I have originals, but know someone who has everything but rods to get his bike back on road)
Will consider your engine work offer, bit of a commute from QLD to Sydney though.
Guess I could send down head & barrels for o-ring conversion.

Haven't done the mito rod and piston yet on the KR250.
Give me a day and I'll get back to you.

Yeah head and barrels and we can do the o-rings for you.
Pm when interested.

We are not 100% sure about the cagiva mito rod.
We have a old one that we can send to you and for you to check first if you like ?
