Hoping some forum members might be able to comment on a good baseline set up for the forks on a KR? Just about to strip the forks to replace the seals (and attempt to temporarily repair a few imperfections in one slider) and wondered if standard 10W oil at the std levels is best or if increasing to 15W etc. works better (not sure if this upsets the anti dive).

Appreciate any advice.

If you are going to dismantle them, get them re-chromed, you will never be happy with a repair.

If you can get 'em to bounce up and down without leaking oil, that'll do. It's never gonna handle brilliantly. Strip and clean the anti-dive units then set them to minimum.

i have used straight 10w hyd jack oil dont know if its gonna work but the seals are not leaking after 2 years lol or use atf thats a good balance

Thanks chaps, looks like I'll go with the standard set up to start with and amend things if need be. Seems usual that these small '80's Strokers were set up for diminutive Japanese folks and are usually under sprung and under damped.

Not that I've ridden mine much but I'm assuming that the bike should handle very well, it's small and light with a trick little chassis so hoping it's great fun in the tight and twisty stuff.

never use anything else then fork oil, it's specialy made to prevent cavitation.
