Clutch switch will not stay in, #27010-1174

Post by pepsi »

My clutch switch will not stay in, it seems the little plastic catches do not hold.Should I get a new one or is there something else I could do ? Tricks? Glue it in?

I think I had to wrap some electrical tape round mine to get it to stay in.

I thought the number 46076-1123 shows to be for a KR250A :?
(stupid question I'm sure, but what's a KR250C ?)

KR250C - KR-1S
KR250D - KR-1R

I would have thought the clutch lever assembly would fit, but not having a KR250A (...dam!) I cannot tell you.

A lot of the seller's other items are for the KR250C (KR-1S). That particular item just says 'KR250', it doesn't say 'C'. The part-number matches the KR250A as Pepsi says.

And I've offered you several KR250A's Top-shaggy, there's only one reason you don't have one...

I've been working on this bike way too long. :? Years ago I noticed the broken switch and sourced a complete lever assembly, it was stashed away. I remembered, found it and just yesterday installed it. All fixed! Someone might buy the one listed as new parts for these are hard to come by.

A quick search and the part is listed for all KR models :)

That's the only KR250A part the seller has by the way, I've asked. :(

My KR is so close to being back on the road.

Broke my clutch switch today though !

Is there a way to bypass it, make it permanently on or off (whichever it needs) ?
What is it's purpose?
Does it stop you starting it in gear with the clutch pulled in?

Thanks

One of the CDI's has an 'interlock' safety circuit that the other one doesn't have. It takes signals from the neutral switch, sidestand switch and clutch lever switch, and kills the ignition to stop you riding away with the sidestand down. That's all it's for.

I can't remember what the clutch/sidestand switches default to (open or closed), but you should be able to easily tell whether you have a problem or not. If so, you should be able to bodge a permanently open/closed circuit as required.
