Front sprocket availability

Post by Richie Rich »

I've been trying successfully to source a 13 tooth front sprocket (std is 14) to gear my KR down a little. Thought I'd found one down here on Aus but it turns out it was for a KR1 which is slightly different having 13 teeth (rather than 12) on the spline for the countershaft.

I assume the same sprocket must be used in other Kawasakis (and / or Jap bikes) of the period but does anyone happen to know what they are -hopefully from a more common model that's easier to source.

Cheers, Richard

just came across this older thread - can't believe it looks almost like the KR had a unique front sprocket design - 12 spline. Very usual (and a little annoying!)

I asked this ebayer if he could find one for me and the keeper too. He came through. =D>

Thanks Pepsi, I'll bookmark that link. Looks like I won't be able to find a 13 tooth front sprocket so will probably leave the gearing as is (will check the rear sprocket to see how many teeth I can go up without having to add links the the chain).

Very unusual little bike to have its own unique sprockets!
