KR250S parts for sale in Japan...

Post by James P »

I noticed this bike wrecker in Japan advertising assorted KR250S parts, including an engine, carbs, bodywork etc.:

May be of interest to someone.

Also, this seller has some KR250S parts: http://sellinglist.auctions.yahoo.co.jp ... 1&slider=0

I've bought loads of stuff from Japan Doug, though not for a while. I used a 'middleman' service called FromJapan though there are lots of others now.

Never had any problems, though it depends what you buy. I've tended to stick to small-ish lightweight items (see below). A mate of mine (against my advice) bought a complete 3XV engine and it cost him a grand to get it home.

Even little stuff can get expensive : winning bid price + domestic shipping + international shipping + FromJapan fees + currency conversion charges + import duty + Parcelforce fee. But where else can you find this stuff ?

Like Tim, I have also used FromJapan and have found them very good.

You can reduce the value of your items that they write on the customs form too to avoid paying customs fees.

For example say you won something for 10000 yen, mark it as 100 yen and also mark it as a gift. You won't pay customs fees then.

Cheeky I know!

Doug,

Tim's and Dan's advice is good. Also...I haven't used FromJapan, but am aware that some agents won't send certain parts (e.g. fuel tanks, carbs, exhausts, shock absorbers etc.). Some of these agents won't allow you to bid on such items, which I suppose is fine. However, I have heard stories of other agents allowing you to buy things and then telling you they won't send them, meaning that you waste your money! Make sure you fully research any agent's policies and ask questions before using them!
