The float in the rear carb seems to have a crack at the needle area.
But I just remembered I had a NOS pair in my stash of years ago , feelin pretty dumb
( Made up a new air filter while I was at it.)

Have you tried Sudco yet? They may have something that's close.

"Indeed it is", said Alice, looking at the mouse's tail.

You may like to try the float from a TM28SS carb as fitted to early TZR250s. I think the floats were changed from round to square/rectangular during the first half of 1987, so there is a good chance TZR floats from 1986 are identical to those in the KR250A carbs. I'm not sure whether the square/rectangular floats interchange, but it may also be worth investigating.

The Yamaha part numbers are:

Early round float 1KT-14185-00
Later square/rectangular float 2MA-14185-00

Both of these floats are still available from Yamaha (price is 3499 Yen each in Japan). You may possibly find that if you order the early part number, you could receive the later part (in which case they should interchange).

If the later floats do interchange, there is a greater chance of finding some of these secondhand, as they were used in more bikes e.g. TZR250 V-twin (1991 onwards), TDR250, R1-Z, SDR, DT200R (1988), TZR125 (1995 onwards, but not 4DL model). Also, the early-model TZR250 continued to be made for export markets until 1990 or 1991.

James
