KR250 oil lines?

Hi All, After trying to trace a minor oil leak on my KR which seemed to be the gear shift oil seal, I’ve now traced it to a hairline crack in one of my oil line banjo joints where they bolt onto the oil pump. I’ve repaired the crack with a strategically placed blob of epoxy resin for now, but need to replace the pipe ASAP. I’ve scouted around all the usual sources, but they don’t seem to be any out there. Does anyone have a spare set laying around I could buy?

Looking at parts book it appears they are sold as a linked pair, part number 92059-1455. Had a quick look on the interweb, but like you I had no luck. You could try a Kwack dealer and see what they say? Or try Drew Jonsen, a Brit who lives in Japan and sources parts. Not used him myself, but he seems to be well connected over there.

Big thanks for the tip. Would you have Drew Jonson’s contact details? Like you, even with the part number, I can’t find anything out there on eBay, the jap auction sites, mega zip etc.
There aren’t even any being broken that I can find.

I googled him and he appears on many forums; ZXROA, TZR, as well as Twitter, and there's a Facebook group called Unobtanium, where he is one of the admins. Seems to get good reviews, so drop him a line and see what he says? Can't hurt to ask.

You bought it then ! Nice one. 8)

2T banjos/bolts are very fragile in my experience, especially old ones. I don't have any spares I'm afraid and no easy suggestion for where to source them. It's highly unlikely that they'll be shared with any other model (welcome to KR250 ownership !) but you may be able to find one with the same fittings at each end that will work.

If you want NOS ones, you could try Z-Power (they can access the Kawasaki Europe and Japanese parts warehouses) or CMS-NL

Most likely place to find some secondhand ones is on Yahoo Auctions Japan, probably thrown in with a pile of other parts. There's a couple of oil pumps for sale on there but without the lines. If you do find some, you can ask Drew/Unobtanium to get them for you, or just do it yourself using one of the middleman services like FromJapan.

Your epoxy 'bodge' may well be the best solution, for a while anyway.

Yes I did! Darin and I met on the Isle of Wight and subsequently completed the deal a few weeks later in a mainland Tesco car park, so now the very happy owner of a really nice honest and original KR250A! Big thanks for putting us in touch. Darin retains first refusal if I ever sell ‘Kermit’ - as my wife calls it!

It has had very little use in recent years so I’ve been through the whole bike. Discovered the air filter had disintegrated into a foamy mulch that had been sucked into the carbs. Basically, I’ve changed all fluids, cleaned carbs, flushed tank, cooling system etc and set everything up by the book and from all the invaluable info and tips on your KR250 website. So far, I’ve managed to source all the parts needed, apart from the 2T oil lines. It’s now back on the road and been given a good shake down.

I love it. Just waiting for some Dunlop GT601 tyres to turn up (the world seems to have run out of the KR’s sizes), and then I’ll be off to do some serious mileage as I can’t believe how good the ergonomics are on this bike. Great road suspension and way more comfy than a TZR or KR1. Not convinced by the anti dive though.

Overall, a very weird and wonderful machine that stands alone amongst innovative early eighties Jap bike technology in my view. Definitely a keeper!
