My KR is finally delivered!

Post by Richie Rich »

Hi everyone, I've posted a few pics of my KR before but they were the ones I purchased the bike from back in Oct last year. Well it's taken a while but I finally had it delivered (it was in a different state and my wife didn't know...) yesterday and wanted to share my excitement with some like minded souls. It's in amazing condition considering its almost 30 yrs old, like stepping back in time. Only 4,900 Km and even had the original tool kit and ownership / servicing records tucked in the little storage compartment behind the side cover. Starts first kick, runs, revs and idles well, sounds so different too.

Everything seems to work, but when time permits I'll strip some of it down to clean and properly service it. Will obviously need tyres and there's some light pitting on one of the forks which will probably need to be rechromed I think.

Anyway, I've never owned one before, but always liked them and this one popped up at a price i just couldnt refuse (my wife didnt buy that as a reason to buy it however).
What a trick little bike.
Anyway, hope you like!

Looks great in black and red combo! 8)

Correct location for the toolkit is a tray under the rider's seat pad (in case you didn't already know).
Stop annoying me, I'm running out of space to hide the bodies!

That looks ace ! I've got one in those colours but it's pretty rough. I'm very jealous of yours.

Tell your wife you've got a proper rare thing there that'll only go up in value.

Re: My KR is finally delivered!

Post by Richie Rich »

Hi there everyone, it's been a while since I posted here because my KR has been tucked away awaiting its turn whilst another bike was finished. Finally today I wheeled her into the middle of my side of the garage (the side dedicated to all things two wheeled) and started stripping her and making a list of jobs. There's not too much to do to be honest (unless I find something I'm not expecting), just a thorough going over, flush and clean of tank and carbs, fork and brake seals, new tyres (BT45's??) etc.

Anyway, whilst stripping the bodywork today I couldn't help but be impressed by what a well thought out and lovely little machine she is, so thought I'd share that thought!

Merry Xmas to everyone.

Cheers, Richard

Hi Dan, good spotting! My 3MA needs a bit of work and I'll get around to it one day... They're beautiful bikes as I'm sure you'll agree as I see you own one amongst some other TZR's. My 3MA might have to wait just a little longer as I purchased a 3XC R1-Z 250 yesterday so seem to be collecting a few little strokers!

Just had a good look at the tyres on the KR to find they're the original Bridgestone G518 & G519 tyres, maybe not too surprising given the low kms, but what is surprising is that they're not cracked on the side walls at all like you'd expect for a 30yr old bike - a tad hard however!
