running on 1 cilinder

Post by jarno »

I have a problem with 1 of the bikes(kr1s)
when cold it runs on 2 cilinders when warm on 1 sometimes 2 cilinders.
carbs and fueltap ultrasonic cleaned new sparkplugs and checked everything.

fuel is pooring out of rhs cilinder when driving.

what can it be,spark seems OK on bouth cilinders.
sometimes it wil pick up on 2 cilinders when driving(you can feel the extra power then)

What happens if you swap the HT leads around?

So where I'm going with this is, if the problem switches cylinders with the HT lead swap, you narrow the problem down to the coil/plug caps etc. If it's still the same cylinder, it's more likely to be a spark plug issue or fueling related.

Sounds like the coil failing to me, I've had that before .. Running ok when cold then gradually failing to spark as it gets hot ..
If it takes more than 2strokes then your just playing at it..

changed the leads and no diverence.

ik think i have found the problem.
when engine runs on idle it runs on 2 cilinders when i'm driving and asking for power it turns in to 1cilinder and smokes on the rhs exhaust

went in a drive this morning and saw alot of blue smoke coming out of rhs exhaust, so i think the drive seal is gone and it is sucking engine oil in the rhs cilinder ( when i am asking power it sucks oil in the cilinder and kills the spark)
smelled and looked at the slurry that came out of rhs cilinder and it seems to be oil.
because of the bike standing still for 13 years it makes sense

does that make any sense to you guys?

Is it using transmission oil?

This is your Zeus blue we're talking about and have you serviced it since you got it?

i think it is using gearbox oil.
the guy who i bought it from changed the oil i have changed it to.
it stood for 13 years so i think the seals dried out.

sounds like your crank seals then. Try some fresh plugs, it may have just fouled them, but I think you'll be looking at a full strip down.
