Should I run KR1S pipes on my KR1?

Post by kghost »

Have an 88 KR1B.

I need a set of pipes. Should I get the KR1-S pipes or the KR1 pipes?

For originality- Kr-1

For performance and looks- Kr-1s*

*To fit Kr-1s pipes you will need the little mount that fits on the rear suspension mount, otherwise there is too much load on the stingers.
Need Break down cover? P.m. me.

Yup, Figured I'd need the hangers.

Thanks for the speedy reply.

The one I have is pretty far from original. I'm just bringing it back from the dead

The OEM exhaust brackets for the 1S are difficult to get hold of, so Fred had some manufactured. Drop him a message and see if he has any available.

no, a bracket that is mounted at the bottom on the frame where the suspension-link is mouted. the expanson chambers are bolted to them just before the tail pipe.

You can just mount them where the KR pipes go,at the rear hanger, the B model pipes are much heavier and have no problems mounted like this.
If you have KR1 pipes then you wont gain anything performance wise form fitting S pipes, the stock B models engine/pipes peak earlier than the S model and there designed for this.
The only gain is in the fact that the S cans are easier to repack and keep clean and they are a bit lighter, you could do the same thing by cutting off the stock B silencer and drilling some mounting holes then fitting light weight TZ cans or such.

I would LOVE a set.

The objective at this point is to just get it running.....

Then we'll make it fancy.

Can't seem to find a coil and bracket it lives on.

Pipes I've got coming in the mail

If you're after any specific bits, post a seperate request on the wanted section with exactly what you need. Martin or Andrew should be able to help you out with most stuff.

Arrh, that makes life more expensive, but not impossible. There are quite a few members on here from down under, so they too might be able to help in the wanted section.
