Would 4stroke engine temp be comparable? After a couple of miles warm up, on my SV the coolant temp is 87-92C the whole time, the dash has a digital readout.

On my KR I've done about 500 miles now, riding on cold and warm days (not been hot yet, sadly) and the temp guage has been anywhere between the bottom mark and top mark in the OK range but hasn't ever gone above or below that. A few times I've found riding it hard the temp has come down the the lower end due to the cold air temp over-cooling the rad.

Don't know if any of that info helps at all, good luck sorting it.

no you can't compare.
the cooler a 2 stroke runs, the better.

I would be pulling into pitlane if my temperatures were anywhere close to what you're seeing during a race.

What head gaskit are you running.? I had a problem on one of mine like you have i used a pattern head gaskit .first time round.
I found were there was slight warp on the head it was blowing past. I got a kawasaki head gaskit an have had no problems since i think it helps with the black coating an they are thicker. hope this helps

Whats the main jet?

If idling around seems normal and opening up the throttle causes the high temperatures it may be its jetted too lean.

I used a genuine gasket.

About the main jet, don't know, didn't have a look at it.

Thought about this too at the very beginning, but most people thought it was not very probable reason to the problem.

As described now with the new gasket I'm at 85-90° head temp.
Apparently this is "normal" for the Kr1-S, anyway I'm gonna mount the big YZF radiator.

Thanks

thanks bernie, gone that way too :)

So I finally mounted the famous big YZF 450 radiator from ebay, works perfectly, now I'm at 52-57° head temp.

Just the oil seal on the balancer still leaking...

thanks people

thanks jarno,

I will, just have to solve the problem of the oils seal of the balancer (as described in the other thread).

But I cannot find an appropriate oil seal, nor I see ho to get on hemi-circle off, apparently no one can help :(, bizzarre, thought many had already changed that oil seal.

thanks

Sorry to high-jack the thread but how difficult is it to fit the YZF 450 Radiator?

Not difficult at all, I made some mounting brackets from sheet aluminium and got a pair of new hoses from Roose Motorsports. No fouling on the fairing at all \:D/

Cheers,
