New Mitaka (new type) pistons are not in order

Post by dirk »

hi Guys

The new type Mitaka pistons are not in order
my engine has rattled like hell.
the gudgeon pin has as much air into the hole that I see it with the eye and you can hear it out loud.
both piston pin bosses (from both pistons) are the same scrap.
The pistons are ~ 1000km (no race) old.
I'm pissed.

exactly the same problem has described from bozbridge
viewtopic.php?f=19&t=12388#p89309

By the way, the upper piston rings have 0.2mm freeplay (when installed) in the groove -> scrap ..

cheers
Dirk

Of course I want to expressly emphasize that not all Mitaka piston are bad!
only in this production series are some pistons not in order.

Had similar problems since they went Taiwan made, rough as cast, abnormal wear after only 150 miles.
Never had a problem with the old type (that were mad by Prox tbh),think i will have to start using something else, maybe a vertex dtr125.
