Hi Skinnybob,
Have you started from scratch and cleaned and synchronised your carbs?
If you get no other offers, I am in Teesside just outside Stockton on Tees.
Cheers

Thanks very much, any idea on the base setting for the air screw (number 6 on the diagram in the KR1S manual) i.e. how many turns out from fully in. I can't find this in the manual, just a setting for the pilot screw! Thanks very much for your offers.

page 21 of 89 in the supplement says 1 1/8 turns out. You can set this by listening to the engine note.
clean all components, fit/oil air filter. check carb to airbox and carb rubbers for cracks. Make them pliable with olive oil and warm water
set needles on correct clip (4 on the kr1 manual)
set float heights
set free play in the cable
set slide heights
adjust tick over right side to 3k with left plug out then do the left side
reduce tickover screws by same amount to get even 1100 to 1300 tickover with both plugs in
set the air screw fully in then wind out 1 1/8 turns (1 1/4 turns KR1 manual)

the bike should start without touching the throttle

test initial pickup and if its too rich wind the screw out (more air) or too rich in (less air)

tighten all the cable adjusters
check oil pump

original air screw setting is too lean, better start with 3/4th out

Sorry to be pedantic folks but the manual only details the pilot screw (at 1 and 1/8 turns out) and not the airscrew. Is the airscrew the same?? Very grateful for your responses.
