my KR1 developed an annoying fault whilst racing at silverstone over the weekend. It appeared that the engine felt like jumping out of 5th whenever it liked back into 4th, requiring me to short shift up to 6th.
I'll be taking the gearbox out for a look, but has anyone else had anything similar, and if so, do you know what the cause was?

I've had the same on other bikes (not KR's though thankfully), both time it was the selector fork and related gear that needed replacing. I'd have a look in the selector casing first before splitting the whole box out, KR's seem to have a habit of bits in there coming loose/springs snapping but that generally affects all gears or changes. You'll need to be in there on the way to pulling the gears out anyway so just give it all a good check before you get any further in.
