OK NOBODY ON HERE APPARENTLY HAS EVER SPLIT THERE OWN CKANKCASE HALVES AND RESEALED THEM APPARENTLY DUE TO THE DOZENS OF REPLIES I HAVE RECEIVED(NOT) AS TO THE CORRECT SEALNT FOR THE JOB.
SO IF YOU ARE CHOOSING A LOCTITE/HENKEL PRODUCT TO SEAL UP ALL YOUR "MACHINED FACES" THEN ACCORDING TO TECH DEPT AT LOCTITE/HENKAL( WHO KINDLY SENT ME A TECH LINK) THE PRODUCT APPLICACLE IF YOU LIKE ME DONT LIKE THE IDEA OF SPENDING £40 ON A TUBE OF 3BOND AND ONLY USING £3 WORTH (I`M ON A STATE PENSION--SQUEEK SQUEEK) AND THE REST OF THE TUBE SITTING IN YOUR TOOL BOX MAYBE NEVER USED AGAIN,THEN THIS IS THE CORRECT PRUCT WHICH WILL NOT FAIL.
I BOUGHT A 50ML TUBE ON EBAY £12.99 FREEPOST--LARGE TUBE WITH TINY NOZZLE SIZE TO APPLY VERY THIN BEAD.
TECH ADVICE TO ME WAS"APPLY A TINY BEAD TO TRY SIZE IN THE MIDDLE OF ONE FLANGE PLACE A PIECE OF CLEAR PLASTIC OR CARD ON SEALANT AND PRESS DOWN AND INSPECT THE "SPREAD" OF THE ADHESIVE YOU WILL FIND YOU DO NOT NEED ANYWHERE NEAR THE AMOUNT YOU THINK TO SEAL THE FLANGES--THE ADHESIVE BEAD SHOULD BE BIG ENOUGH TO SPREAD ACROSS THE FLANGE AT PRESSURE BUT NO MORE AS YOU DO NOT WANT TOO MUCH EXCESS.
LOCTITE IS AN ANAEROBIC SEALANT/ADHESIVE SO WILL NOT CURE OUTSIDE OF THE JOINTED AREA AND WILL NOT BLOCK ANY INTERNAL ORIFICE AS ANY EXCESS WILL BE DISPERSED BY THE COMBUSTION OIL SPRAY.
