KR-1 WORLD REGISTRY - Models, Frame Numbers and Engines MODEL IDENTIFICATION

KR-1 FAMILY TREE...

we need YOUR DATA to help determine actual frame quantities/clusters
...and what countries they went to

Engine Number:
KR-1 and later models share an engine number pool of maybe 9900+ motors Δ
while there are small differences between a B series motor (as used in a KR-1 chassis), to that used in a C or D (KR-1S, KR-1R)...
ALL motors are designated engine numbers that look like KR250BE-00****
see the stamped number above clutch cover on crankcase

KR250C-300025
= D1

as for my B1/2 shall we determine the OLDEST KR will be the LOWEST FRAME NUMBER - people outside UK wont have any clue what your Rego Letters mean

Kawasaki seem to designate the JDM homologation race version chassis numbers with a prefix of 3
eg KR-1R chassis KR250C-300xxx
eg ZXR400R chassis ZX400H-300xxx
eg ZXR750R chassis ZX750J-300xxx

I have no idea how many KR-1R there are ... my only info states

KR250-D1 [1989] Beginning Frame No.: KR250C-300001
KR250-D2 [1990] Beginning Frame No.: KR250C-300501

I doubt there would be as many as 500 in each series though

Yep those frame numbers are correct :) . See MJ's team sparrow website for conformation. IIRC they made 200 KR1R's each year for homoglation (spelling) purposes, so there was a total of 400 made and most of them would have been prodie raced so I doubt there are many left at all.

I think there was only 2 or 3 that found there way over here, and MJ as all the trick bits off one of them and any others have disappeared.

The rest of us have to make do by making their own CR gearboxes and 35mm carb mounts.

does anyone have genuine kr1r bits or f3 kit bits? would be an intresting topic to hear what you have and how you aquired it, the tricker/more unobtainible the better(of course). also want as much info as possible such as who kit parts were made by, eg rgv/sugaya. what the race kit included from bigger rads to diffrent ignition and so on, cheers matt

I don't have a KR-1R :(

But I do have the reed block rubbers, the airbox rubbers a set of genuine PWK35mm can tell by the side the tickover screw is :D and what I think are kit rad, alternator and ignition. Was given all the bits by Team T3 who got them of a guy that raced a KR up at Darley Moor must be 6 or 7 years ago.

Only got the one road legal KR

and 5 chassis with Docs two of which are KR-1. These are unlikely to ever see the road again :(
