According to my Japanese parts catalogue for the KR250-B (part No. 99911-1144-01) dated Dec. 9th 1987, the frame numbers start at KR250B-000001, engine numbers at KR250BE000001.
My Japanese parts catalogue for the KR250C-1 and KR250D-1 (part No. 99991-1173-01) dated Feb. 23rd 1989 lists the frame numbers of the C-1 starting at KR250C-000001, engine numbers at KR250BE003701. For the D-1 the frame numbers start at KR250C-300001, engine numbers at KR250BE003701. I don't have parts catalogues for the C-2/D2 and C-3 yet so I can't supply the numbers for these models.

I have a crankcase set with the number KR250BE004935 which has the extra bolts for the balancer cover as per the C model parts catalogue. No frame yet.

To complete the information Gerrit has provided, I have checked my own parts catalogues and can offer the frame number info below (most of this has already been stated by Danny KR-1R in the first post of this topic). I have only quoted numbers which I have actually seen printed in the parts catalogues.

B1 - KR250B-000001 onwards
B2 - KR250B-004001 onwards
C1 - KR250C-000001 to 001000
C2 - KR250C-001001 to 006800
C3 - KR250C-006801 onwards
D1 - KR250C-300001 to 300500
D2 - KR250C-300501 onwards

I haven't found anything stating the range for B1 frame numbers, but they obviously didn't exceed 004000.

Engine numbers for the B2 model start at KR250BE-003701, which is (curiously) the starting point given for all subsequent model engine numbers. I therefore presume that B1 engines were numbered up to 003700. It thus seems reasonable to assume that about 3700 B1 models were made, but I have no explanation for the "missing" 300 B1 frames!

As far as I can tell, B2 and C3 were export-only models and weren't sold in Japan...although perhaps very small numbers of them did stay behind.

Although the range of frame numbers for the D1 suggests that 500 units were made, most people seem to believe the true number to be around 200. Again, I can't offer any insight which may lead to a definite number, but...
Some time ago, Danny helpfully posted a link to a Kawasaki internet page where you could type in a frame number and obtain confirmation whether that particular bike was sold in Japan. I'm not sure whether he has tried typing in all possible 500 frame numbers for the D1, but see the eighth post on page 2 of this very topic (viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1354&start=15), in which he refers to Kawasaki's chassis number search.

Iam new here, have lots of bikes, but this is my first kr1 , or first Kawasaki two stroke road bike, ive just brought it, and had the motor stripped, as it was sitting for 3 yrs unstarted, heres the frame no--kr 250 B003678, ENGINE --KR 250 BE000799, when we stripped it found it in reasonable shape, the barrels are resleeved, kr1s barrels, in my search for parts, I have recently brought another whole 3 engines, basically a shed full of parts, one of the motors has 35 mill keihin carbs, iam thinking that maybe I should use these on my rebuilt motor, or should I just stick with the 28mil for reliability, and put the b barrels on inst :D :D :D ead, as have heard of horror stories of rings catching up in the exhaust port, iam only going to use it as a sunday ride, but a fast sunday ride. Also have another 2 frames, so will see what frame numbers they are.
