Welcome to the forums.

Your problem could be anything, so you'll have to go through some basic troubleshooting techniques and eliminate possible issues one by one.

First thing to check would be fuel and electrics.

What were the circumstances and symptoms when it stopped and how did it stop?

A few more details there might give us some clues as to the area you need to start looking.

Also, what's your electrical and mechanical background like?

Hi,

checking if you still have a spark at the plugs is fairly simple;
  • remove spark plug and
    put cap on it
turn ignition on (fuel off, choke off)
kick it whilst holding plug cap so that body of plug is in good contact with engine block (earthed)
if there is a spark you should be able to see it.
    repeat other side.
(take both plugs out makes it easier to turn engine over).

there are other things like is the plug oily, caked up, correct gap etc.

you maybe know this anyway.

I guess after checking all earth connections you need to check stator etc.

run an earth connection directly to cylinder head to be sure it is earthed. I have a wire from where tank and rectifier mount to one of the powervalve cable clamps.

Do you have power, as in does the KIPS servo run through its test cycle when you switch the ignition on?

It could be your stator, but check your clutch and side stand inhibitors first.

Do you know anyone else with a KR1 local to you?

I'd be guessing stator. The first time my KR1S broke down it sounded like similar symptoms. Turns out it was a bolt had come loose and chewed ip the stator. On the up side pretty simple to fix.
Although when mine stopped it was rock solid I couldn't kick it over

I would suggest you take a look at page 15 of this PDF...

http://www.kr-1s.co.uk/manual/Part%2015 ... System.pdf

Reading that will probably all make sense, but if you have any questions please ask.
