Marmite #2

Post by headcoats »

Image
This is going to be a slow build but here is the first pic of Marmite #2

It's not going to have KR1s front and back end but will have a KR1s front wheel in RGV forks if it works out

Had the tank chemically dipped to see what lurked underneath and it turned out to be pretty solid but had a few dents, one big one in the right side.
Local paint shop (motopaint UK) pulled the dents out and filled and primed it for me and i have some POR 15 tank sealer to put in too

Now for the paint scheme :-k ,i'm 50/50 on which one to go for

This one but in the cream/beige colour of the new Mini's and black stripes
Quite plain i guess but quite understated

Or the Jap spec which i think is a pearl white with red stripe

I like the pearl white the best, but all are nice.

All quality, but pearl & red looks lovely 8) 8)

Think that or speed blocks are least likely to age !!

Is the dipping expensive ? I'm sick of nitromors & sanding [-( [-(

I love LC specials 8) - some of best looking of all the strokers in my opinion

Can't understand why people spend thousands on LC's bringing them
to concours when you could spend the same upgrading running gear,
one off paint, chambers and making a really unique bike

Good luck :)

Kenny roberts has been done done and done again, but it does look good.

Like the lines but instead of cream, I would do black with gold lines like the old JPS racing colour's with gold wheel's.

Started doing the tank with the POR 15 tank sealer today.
It's a 3 stage kit and it takes time 8-[
I did one on my last LC and was great until the bloke who painted my tank oversprayed all the inside of the tank ](*,)
Let's just say i went to a different place this time

Degreased the tank with the stage one part (marine clean, mixed with hot water) then put the stage 2 in (metal ready) which disolves the rust and etches the metal 8)
Then spent a few hours forcing air through the tank to dry it out,you get a bit paranoid here as you can't see inside ,so not 100% sure if it is dry or not but i think i went overboard with the drying just to make sure.

This saturday i should be putting the stage 3 part in which is the actual sealer itself and this takes 4 days to dry

There's always the other trad Yam colour combo of blue/white?
Stop annoying me, I'm running out of space to hide the bodies!
