Re: At Last......Putting it back together
So moving on, the only problem with polishing something is it makes everything else look rubbish
So the challenge continued.....
The crankcases looked poor in comparison with the clutch casings so, more solvol required....
I was pleased with the results but now the top end looked rubbish
My finger is hurting now and there is still loads to do
More Premier Inn treatment required.....
If Lenny Henry could see what I get up to in his rooms

Hi, looking good there, thought about the paint work yet, have u had it done yet, if not thought about who will paint it. My paint work took six months to get painted, by kas, but did a fantastic job, photos do not give it justice. But put the bike build way back . When yours is finished have to get both bikes together, get Martin to take some photo,s with is special camera .

Re: At Last......Putting it back together
Hi Gary,
The paintwork is going to be standard firecracker red and pearl gentry grey metalic, I have been trying to get less expensive quotes, but I think I have got the best deal I can get.
I don't have the cash yet, so it will have to wait.
I picked up the exhaust hangers and a stainless steel air filter support from Martins last night (thanks).
Photos sounds like a good idea, we can arrange it when I bring the bike down to put it on the dyno.
See you soon.
Cheers
Bernie

Hi Bernie, this looks fantastic, real awesome. I wish I was so far as you with my bike. What did you use to polish? And how fine do you grind before? I polish my fork tubes but this is no problem with a drill.
Cheers

Re: At Last......Putting it back together
Hi Christoph,
240 grit, then 400 grit, then 800 grit, depending on how badly pitted the surface is, if I want a mirror finish I use 1500 grit and finish with my favorite Solvol Autosol (all by hand).
Cheers

Re: At Last......Putting it back together
Since I have had nothing to polish, I noticed my one and only key was breaking
So I sorted some replacements (cut to the code)
Very pleased with the result

The sales manager for the Teeside Solvol agency has just won Salesman of the year. His breakthrough was when Bernie moved from tubes to 1 tonne IBC's !500bernie wrote:Hi Christoph,
