Bought this off a very nice man for £500:-



Ex race bike been standing for 8 years. Came with new pipes and lots of other bits.

Everything needs work. Engine is the usual ball of fur. Everything is flaky and needing work:-

Frame in the paint booth (it's a pop-up greenhouse off e-bay):-



Paint is RAL9006 Aluminium Silver with a satin 2K lacquer over the top.

I usually get wheels powdercoated but the tyres were good on these so I prepped, masked and shot some basecoat and 2K over them. I'll probably powdercoat them when it needs new rubber:-



Frame over engine. I did it this way because a supplier let me down on delivery of a spring for the rear shock. This restoration would have been done in a week but for waiting on that spring and a rechromed fork leg:-

Left carb started leaking from overflow so 2 new float valves on order.

Needs a chainguard....anyone got one for sale?

Wow! Fantastic work there bud - and £500 is a bargain no matter what the condition!

I like the idea of spraying in the greenhouse - I've been pondering whether to do this too.

Thank you all. In my job I get to 'work' from home a lot so I can do a restoration quick nowadays.

The greenhouse is great as it keeps the overspray off the bikes. Takes about half an hour to put up/take down and holds the heat in. I use a small oil rad for a few minutes and it will stay at 20 degrees overnight with that which means I can paint in winter. No ventilation in there so use proper breathing gear if you shoot 2K.

Paint is Peugeot Cossack Grey Metallic (Halfords rattle can) followed by satin 2K to save them from the brake fluid.

According to the VIN, this is a C3 but the tank striping doesn't match the side panels. Which is correct, the fairing/side panels/tail or the tank?

Hi, you done that a lot faster than most, not sure I could do the same given the time either.

The tank looks correct for the C3 scheme, all other panels are 'wrong' What makes you think it's C3 as even the caliper colours indicate the earlier colour scheme, (all stuff easily changed though)
is should be this without the tail numbers obviously

Thanks. It says KR250C3 on the V5 and the number is in the correct range for that. This one (and others) appears to be wearing the grey calipers so maybe they are correct for a C3.



Fairing could well be a swap given it spent most of its life on track wearing fibreglass.

Yes sorry, my mistake, thought the calipers were gold before, now I've had a better look, I can see the graphite colour, through the flaky aluminium
Agree if it was a tracker, anything could be swapped , so prob replacement panels etc, are you going to paint it all yourself??

I can live with the mis-match for now as originality is not my thing and it doesn't look too weird in my opinion.

On the other hand, I have an NSR250 fairing sitting here in primer...
