Hello stranger

Post by alanw »

Hello
I havn't posted for a while, been too busy at work and on the no.1 bike.
Some of the pictures are poor, they were taken in a shed at night. Finally got the fairing extension finished & fitted it to the no.2 bike but it's not staying there, keeping the no.2 bike standard. Other pictures are of the swing arm I've modified "welded aluminium", painted with textured paint, photo makes it look like sparkly black. Made the hugger but probably change it to black and finally for some Christmas holiday fun trying to re-design the nose ( third attempt ), cover it in spray foam and carve til I get something I like so that I can make a mould of it..............
Enjoy your Christmas holidays............. even if you're a Man.U supporter

One point off the top, just beat most hated rivals away from home, seeded in the last 16 of the Chapions league, heard a few rumours about who way may sign in the jan window-yeah I'll probably enjoy christmas :D :D :D I mean I could be a Libpool fan, or Lids or.....

Alan, love that fairing extension looks brilliant, can you tell us some more about it. Rest of it is looking great too.

Very nice work on the fairing extension, if the lower fairing didn't have that white edge it would look seamless.

what was the swing arm originally from? as it is a beautiful piece.

The fairing extension looks fantastic! 8)

But I've gotta say that the swingarm is absolutly awsome!! =P~ =D>
Did you create it from scratch, or was it borrowed from something else?
Looks like it would help a lot in reduceing flex in the arm.
Would love to see a bit more detailed pics of it. 8)

Can't wait to see what you do with that front fairing. :D

The swing arm is kr1s " used to be Elf's " with 1.5 ali sheet cut & shaped then seam welded together, clamped & welded onto it. It would accept the original chain guide, but it looked naff, so nearly finished the one you can see on it............. The fairing ext isn't bad to make now the mould is made, so possibly would make more. But the mould has to be converted to silicon, because it doesnt like letting go due to its shape........The fairing has a 5 / 6 mm male radius around it's edge , so I've made the ext with a matching 5 / 6 mm female radius. That's why it fits so snug & why it doesn't like coming out the mould. The ext in the pic was made for the No 1 bike & is a better fit to it "Kawasaki tolerances" & why theirs the white line between the two. I intend extending the ext a lot further back something like the KTM 250 gp bike but I'm using micron gp pipes & need them on to check clearances & shape...............God I'm long winded . The nose mods aren't going well  Alan

Alan, if you do do some of those fairing extenders, I'll be first on the list, paypal primed and ready! Joking apart if you do some I definately want one. I need to get my finger out and do something about the seat converter, where's best for getting the mould stuff from?

Its exspensive but pro ind stuff. They do kits but the biggest one was just to small for me so I have to pay for more than I need about £70 .If your not in a hurry you could get some of mine ( at a hugely inflated price)

?? does anyone know who could supply a lower flatter winshield for the KR1S
