i can only find single lip seals . i will order some jb weld and i can etch the shafts so it sticks well , and thought i would try sealed bearings and sort 2 problems out , 8mm id x 14mm os x 4mm wide ,more surface area to stop everything rattling about ,hopefully .£10 for 10,we will see. ile have a look tomorrow to see if there is enough meat to counter bore into the seats to have a bearing and seal

Did you get the barrels replated.?

These are good barrels I bought off Alex Hutchinson years ago. I must have 4 pairs of matching barrels to send off to poeton aptec to get repaired and plated, but not yet,
Just bought some Power Maxed steel epoxy to repair the wear on the kips valves. See how it goes.
And just posting a lower exhaust bracket off to a Andrew Lewis that did Bonnerville on his Kr. Will have a read up on that later. Cheers

the KIPS oil seal (92049-1238) is still available from Kawasaki ¥500 each - about £3.30
common with the KX85 apparently

probably why you are looking to improve robustness and save money at same time - if the finished tolerance on the stems is close enough, would you even need seals on top of sealed bearings?

That's my thinking. Mine have always danced and bounced about a bit

They fit sound. I'm going to pop the old rubber seals above the bearing as a damper and to stop the bearing floating. Took up all the sloppiness.

I'll use a little Heldite sealer (used for petrol and diesel sealing over ptfe pipe joints) around the stem and on the outer race. I will pop the old seal above just as a damper, on a spare head I need to tig weld a snapped ring Mark up in the squish area so will remove the steel sleeves and counter bore in 3mm so a bearing and seal will properly fit. But that's a way off yet

Hi Fred
Thanks for the post.
I am down in New Zealand and have a KR1 (88) on the build for track only use. Not many KR1 guys down this way, lots of TZr's and RGV's.
Interested to read in a post above that you have cutting files for 'S' chambers. Would you consider sharing those files with me so I can have a set made down here? I have been trying for months to get specifications so I can build a set and avoid the big cost of jollies etc.
Steve

My rebuild only stopped because of a stripped thread in the head. Helicoil tap for 99p and a order of some inserts. I will do a test on some scrap first. I wonder what torque it would take to wreck it? I received a winter heating payment of £140 so it's time to stich them expansion Chambers together. I've been busy helping mates with other projects.
