That's looking good. Do you have the oil tank and header tank?

your outer valves are in the wrong position, they should be at 180°

Janbros i have changed the way that the valves work so that the inner and outer valves rotate in opposite directions to each other and then i have swapped round the f3 style powervalves accordingly so they all line up better when the valves are open and also when they are closed.

I will draw a diagram later to demonstrate

Maccas apart from not understanding what you've done with your power valves :? can I ask WTF are you listening to

Oh and good show with the stairs, that must've been a chuckle.

ok i will try and explain, using just one barrel as an example

The standard powervalves (not f3 style) turn the same rotational direction as each other in each barrel. So when in the open position the kips chamber is shut off and there should be a nice smooth passage along the auxillary exhaust passage and into the main port. No problems apart from it makes setting the valves up a bit tricky.

The f3 valves are handed, so 2 left hand 2 right handed. I get the impression that you are supposed to put the 2 left hand valves in one barrel and the 2 right hand valves in the other. If you do not do this and put one left and one right in each barrel when the valves are in the closed position only one auxillary port gets closed off. When the valves are in the open position everything lines up lovely and there is nice smooth ports for the gas to follow.

I have fitted one left hand valve and one right hand valve in each barrel then fiddled with the linkages so that each pair of valves (each barrel) turn in opposite directions to each other, this way, when open things are lined up nice and smoothly and when closed both sides of the port are closed properly.

Hope that makes sense.

Now I am confused ](*,)

When the engine is stopped or at low revs what possition should the valves be in?

Both closed, so the port leading to the resonator chamber and other side port leading to the additional exhaust transfer port in the barrel are both shut?

Or both open?

Or one open and one closed? if so which? :-s

Cheers,
Bernie :D

Should be closed and directing to the resonator chamber

I will try and make a video actually looking up the exhaust ports to describe it :)

Luders the header tank is fitted but i am going to run premix so i'm leaving the oil tank off.

I plan to get plenty done to it this weekend.

I was just asking, as I have the tanks taking up space in my garage. I'll stick em on eBay when I get chance, unless you want an oil tank. I take it you're running premix out of preference and peace of mind.

Ah i see, thanks for asking but i've got the tank, yep i run premix on all of my two strokes, i know its a pain stopping for fuel but would rather be safe than sorry if the pump cable snapped or a pipe split etc.

Just had another look and getting more confused (Friday, long week, beer....)
The outer port (on the side where the resonator is) has two positions, one which opens to the resonator, and the other which closes the port to the resonator and opens the transfer port to the cylinder.
The inner appears to only have one function...open and close to the transfer port in the cylinder.
I will have to put the linkage on and see what happens :?

Cheers,
Bernie :D
