Kr1s zx hybrid

Post by Joe439 »

Was gonna wait till it was finished to show it off kr1s frame zx400 braced swingarm 03 zx conventional forks and wheels. Engine is in middle of getting a top to bottom restore but it's a rolling chassis. NO frame modifications where done but the swingarm was and the sprocket carrier.

that looks great
Like the idea of the zxr swingarm ,But surely by moving the sprocket across like you have means that you still can't go any wider with the rear tyre !
I would of thought that nothing more than a 150 will fit , which is about as wide as the standard wheel will take !
I fitted a zxr 400 rear wheel to my zephyr 550/600 and I can just about fit a 160 rear tyre and the chain is CLOSE

but keep us all informed

A 160 tire fits just fine on a 4.5" rim without any need to offset the front sprocket

Think you might of misunderstood what I was saying

He has moved the rear sprocket in i.e closer to the centre of the wheel ,meaning he now has less room for a wider tyre than could already be fitted to the stock wheel set-up.and the zxr is meant to have a 160 tyre.

But will a 160/60 tyre fit the standard KR swingarm? I have a loose Dunlop Sportmax 160/60 x 17 (removed from the RGV rear wheel I bought) and it doesn't fit the 1S swingarm.

your right a 160 tyre won't fit in the kr swingarm ,but he is using the zxr arm so should be able to go to 160 except hes moved the sprocket inboard and I think that will compremise the fitting of the larger tyre !

hope I'm wrong cause the zxr swingarm looks amazing an I would consider that mod for my own bike if it works out well for him.

lets see how he gets on ,great idea looking good

I tried a 160 in my KR1s with RGV 4.5" rear and it was too wide for the swing arm. The wheel wouldn't spin !!!! A 160 is bordering on too big for a 4.5" rim. As far as I know 150 is the recommended size for a 4.5" rim
