Im Worried!

Post by Kr1stofer »

Hello Chaps,

Listen, this is going to sound a daft question but - how should a 1s motor sound when it's running?

The reason i ask is because although mine fires up on the first kick, hot or cold, it's making a kind of rotary knocking sound up until about 5000 rpm then i can't hear it over the actual engine noise.... :?

As i have'nt got another bike to compare it with, i don't know if it's shagged in some way or 'they all sound like that sir'??

It seems to rev okay and there is no excessive smoke coming from either exhaust but it's just this 'Diesel' type sound thats getting on my tits.

I have'nt even touched the motor since i've had it as i've only just got it back together after a year in my garage and i don't want to guess at what it might be as i know throwing money blindly at a bike does'nt go down well with my bank account....

I hope this does'nt come across as the stupidest question posted on here but i am a bit concerned as i don't want it going boom when i take it for it's maiden voyage!

If you have any ideas please leave me a message as imy laptop is screwed and im using someone elses computer and unfortunately can't answer questions as quickly as im used too....

Thanks Guys

Kris.

Thanks for the advice chaps,

However, to add insult to injury, after going to my garage to make a video of said problem i found that my keys were missing and could'nt fire the damn thing up!!!

My kids said they dont know where they are but i've got a good feeling my youngest has posted them either - in a neighbours letterbox, the kitchen bin or the drain near my garage    ](*,)

Not my week i can tell you....! #-o

Thanks guys and i'll try the flywheel thing if not then watch this space for my directorial debut when i eventually get a film uploaded on here.... :|

Have a look in any toy motorbikes your kids may have - once found my spare stuffed in the fairing of a plastic BMW!

pmsl!!! =D> ahh, the joys of children!! ](*,)

temporarily hot wiring is easy enough without damage, except fuse blowing maybe (remove fuses) by splicing into the loom and joining the thickish white and brown wire (99% sure) near the igntion barrel. alternatively disconnect the ignition barrel connecter and bypass the ign barrel ising a strategically placed bit of wire going from the white into the brown wire. be very careful not to let the wire touch other wires as its piss to blow a kr cdi or pv servo motor. thats why removing the fuses or disconnecting the cdi and pv motor is a safer idea. personally i think splicing into the said wires is better as yopu can prevent unwanted bits of wire coming into contact which leads to blown cdi's etc. when your hotwiring is secure enough, refit the fuses and voila, you SHOULD be able to start your bike. hopefully the keys will turn up.

the other way around this problem is to dismantle the ignition barrel so as to remove the lock. Once youve done that, you can use a screwdriver to start it without damaging anything.
As a bonus, while youve got it apart you should be able drop the lock section into a locksmith to get a key cut. Once that's done, just reasemble it and off you go.
