ZXR rear wheel in KR swing arm?

Post by fzrman »

Whats involved for the fitment of a ZXR400 rear wheel/disc/cush-drive?

Is it a straight fit? any issues with brake disc size and caliper?

and does the cush drive need modifying to bring the rear sprocket nearer the centre of the wheel?

way too much work, IF it's possible.

look out for an RGV VJ22 rear wheel (with disc and sprocketcarrier : you only need 3 bushes made up
My ultimate goal is to die young as late as possible !

been there, tried that - didn't fit.

the hub is way too wide. In order for it to fit the hub would have to be narrowed quite alot, which would also impact on the way the cush drive fits.

RGV rear wheel is the most popular option, however, I went with an aprillia RS250 one (simply because it was a good price at the time)

you have to take at least 10mm off the cush drive which doesnt leave so much meat for the studs - alternatively INSET the back sprocket (use an existing sprocket blank as a carrier for spacing lugs to inset a new sprocket). AS WELL also need an offset front sprocket to make a chainline of >fill mm< (just inside the frame spars/pivot)

the right hand side is ReallY pushed (hub width) for space - the brake caliper holder is way too chunky (wide) - wont fit.

why not look at an H model swingarm complete (its braced too but exstrusion profile is similar to 'S') - would have to be narrowed (a little) at the pivot and the unitrak mounts for the shock TIES is different. Also is (maybe) 10mm shorter in length (reducing wheelbase).

I've fitted an Aprilia rs125 rear wheel to mine.Needed a couple of spacers and the disc size reducing(pics of wheel and spacers on this very forum).I went for this wheel cause they are quite common,ie cheap! gave £25 for mine including tyre, disc and sprocket.
