gearbox oil change
Okay, I feel like a complete idiot asking this, but I can't for the live of me get the oil filler cap open. No oil = no driving = no joy. Anyone got any ideas? Went through my toolbox, and nothing did the job. Am afraid to touch it just now in case I'm actually making it worse. ](./images/smilies/eusa_wall.gif)

Big old style 10p in a mole grips!! actually that didn't work for me but it was one thing I tried! in the end it was a bit of heat a chisel and a hammer! Its not the prettiest of filler caps any more but I am no longer worried about wrecking it.

yeah
is it B model: metal cap with flat head and slot
or C model: plastic with raised thumb/finger ridge
you do have opposable thumbs I take it?
as with many screwed things that cant undo - TRY first TIGHTENING then LOOSENING PROCEDURE
essentual toolbox kit... the impact driver ... 10quid?
great on powervalve pulley screws, and carb float bowls

IF YOU DONT OWN ONE - GET ONE THIS WEEKEND

I have trouble with this everytime i change the oil, think it'll get easier... IT WONT
however i agree with KR-1R impact driver does the trick every time one whack and it's open, just make sure you've got it set for the right direction, don't want to make it tighter.
Also as you go about your day to day odd jobs you'll find many other uses for it. Try to get one that has a 1/2" drive so it matches up with your socket set, i think most do.
I think the reason it's always so hard to get off is because of the constant cooling and heating forces that it is under - expansion and contraction and all that...
that's my 2 cents...
