Hey guys.
As with most of my posts on here i'm after some more obscure information.
Are KR1-S discs the same as H model zxr400's?
I bought a random 300mm retro PFM disc from ebay the other day hoping it might fit my zxr250. When it arrived i measured the offset and it came up at around 14mm inside to outside. My zxr250 discs are (by eye) about 4 or 5mm offset. I had always assumed the kr1s and zxr250 had the same discs but maybe i'm wrong.
Either way its annoying as is it means i have different disc offset to pretty much every other kawasaki with the small 5 bolt pcd. Thats according to drimeca at least.
http://www.grimeca.it/en/?id=10&brand=KAWASAKI (v useful)
What i'd like to do is go to a 320mm single disc or go down to kr1 275/280 mm (whichever they are) discs or similar.
Does anyone know what kr1 disc offset is?
Cheers
martin

Cheers for that tripitaka, I had seen that before but i hadn't given it quite such a close look. So kr1(from what i can see), kr1s, zxr400 H and L all run 14mm offset discs.
After a bit of a trawl on yahoo auctions japan i found a nice side on picture of a zxr250A model disc and it has the same large ish offset as the kr1s, zxr400 and pretty much all other kawasaki discs.
So just to clarify if you are shopping for discs and stumble upon some zxr250 discs with dark carriers these discs wont fit your kr1s as they have a smaller offset. This also means that if you fancy running a zxr250c wheel on your kr1s you will need zxr250 discs. I guess the later 250 runs the same hub width as a zxr400. Don't quote me on that though.
I find it a little strange that kawasaki chose to make two different sets of forks, discs and wheels for both the 250 and 400 zxrs. Maybe it was because it was still early days for usd forks.
Whatever the reason it means i'm going to have to stay with 300mm discs for now.

Thanks for the replies everyone oh and sorry for the double post.
Just to clear a few things up, i don't have a kr1 or kr1s, i have a zxr250, so probably shouldnt be posting here but this forums members seem to know more about zxr front ends than zxr owners!
The reason i'm interested in kr1, kr1s, zxr400 discs is because i'm in the process of swapping the fork internals from some zxr250 forks i have for k6-k7 gsxr 600 internals as they are exactly the same length (for the c model at least). Or more accurately i want to swap the fork stanchions because its cheaper than having mine rechromed.
So...if all goes well i will have radial brake mounts. A pair of radial brake calipers biting on the standard 300mm discs will be overkill, so i either wanted to go down to a pair 280mm discs or up to a single 320mm using the standard wheel as i like the 110 front tyre.
But it seems that the later zxr250 c model has a different offset to all other discs using the kawasaki bolt pattern. Which is what i was trying to say. This means that kr1 280mm discs arent suitable and that 320mm kawasaki discs arent either.
I'm going to measure the hub width next week and go from there.
cheers martin
