Opening / splitting a crankshaft

Post by Mikkel »

Hi all.

I have 2 crankshafts that both need an overhaul. 1 has a twisted centre pin, the other one has VERY soft crank seals (burns PLENTY of oil)...
Anyway - I live in Denmark, and would like the get the job done here, since it is VERY expensive to send it to UK.

I have found a machine shop, where plenty of people I know have gotten their cranks rebuild - so far this shop has only been working with Yamaha RD 350 cranks (and similar), and the mechanic was a little confused when he saw the KR1 crank gear...

Can anyone tell me how to take those cranks apart?

So far I have only found this topic:
viewtopic.php?t=2471&highlight=renewed+crankshaft
And it doesnt really reveal anythinh... :-k

Help would be much appreciated! [-o<

Hi!

Had a quick look... And I didnt get any wiser regarding the primary gear (?).
(Cant figure out how to remove that right-hand-side-gear-wheel  )

Pictures would be great :)

This must be the same problem:

Thanks for the reply, but I think you misunderstood me...

I HAVE the magazine, but picture no. 3 - that operation has to be done from either side of the crank... But how is that done on the right side (primary gear side?), so I can replace that seal undeneath???
