Nice bike
I would check how many teeth are on the front and rear sprocket before you tear it apart
Someone could have lowered the overall gearing that way

Re: my zeus blue project
....Luverly bike there =D>
the Zeus bikes were assembled around the same time as the R, and engine numbers will be very close between these models eng#005100-#005400
R Gears?
...preliminary Answer looks to be NO. both large gears in photo appear to have 38 teeth matching a standard box
would a small amount of clutch slip account for higher than expected revs vs speed?
being freshly reassembled, the clutch cable may need of readjustment at each end to specifications
to check rpm/speed linearity... at 4000 rpm are you 70kph in 6th?

Re: my zeus blue project
Thanks KR1R
the engine number is kr250be005337 so it is in that range.
as i said before i had to shift alot it seems to have a long first gear and the rest seems very close.
when i was driving about 140 kmph it was reffing 8000rpm in 6th gear.
and at 50 kmph in 6th it was reffing about 3000 rpm.
the cluch kabel is very loos expesaly because it was rebuilt so i don't have slip on the cluch.
wil try to put it on paper howe much reffing in gears next time i am riding with the bike.
cheers Jarno

Re: my zeus blue project
Nice work so far Jarno !
I was (possibly still am) contemplating making similar manifolds, due to the lack of available standard carb rubbers (well...ones which aren't cracked!). Do you know of a suitable rubber sleeve for use with the standard PWK28 carbs? I have some rubber sleeves to suit Mikuni carbs, but I'd rather not change the carbs just because I can't get suitable rubber sleeves (although it may be possible to machine the groove in the PWK28 spigot to suit the Mikuni rubbers).
Also, did you change the "stuffers" in the reed blocks to suit the new manifolds?
Any info appreciated !
Thanks & regards,
James
Are those Mikuni TM28 (or perhaps TM32) carbs in the photo? Did you make the manifolds yourself or did you buy them?

Re: my zeus blue project
Hello James
bought the engine complete with the carbs and manifolds.
this was a racing engine in 1992. carbs are 34mm from a yz 125 dirtbike
about the original carbrubbers there still availible ( do you need a pair?)
if you want i can make a couple of pictures of the carb manifolds.
there is or was a forum member that had 35mm carbmanifolds made.

Re: my zeus blue project
Yes please Jarno! I rebuilt a Suzuki PE250 a few years ago and made a similar manifold to suit the TM32 carb I put on (from a TS250X). The original carb was a VM36, but the bike came with a VM34 (from a Yamaha TD3) and the rubber was badly cracked.jarno wrote:if you want i can make a couple of pictures of the carb manifolds.
Thanks to you & Bernie for confirming the availability of new rubbers - I bet they aren't cheap, but will enquire with Cradley anyway .
Regards,
James

Jarno,
You mention using brake cleaner as a solvent cleaning agent. What is the major chemical in that, that makes it your choice?

Re: my zeus blue project
I use it to clean dirt and other stuff.
when it is cleaned i put the most things(metaal and aluminium) in the ultrasonic cleaner because i don't like it to be sandblasted or waterblasted.
don't know what kind of solving agent is in the cans, it works
