barrel markings and engine advise

Post by bob64bob »

took the top end off today, because the coolant level dropped, its a kr1 with s barrels (1596-1597) , looking on the underside of the barrels they look different in finish quality and one has a number stamped on and the other seams to have a black coating in the ports

also one of the resonator covers had a thick gooey pool of oil

think it might need a bit of attention
there`s no radial movement on the big end but a lot of sideways movement

i don`t feel confident doing the work myself, i am in the Derbyshire area, can anyone recommend anyone in the near for doing any work on the engine ?
cheers

Hello Bob,

the diference in the barrels is that the one with the stamp is recoated (new nicaseal)and the one without the stamp and the black finnish is original.

about the slush in the resonator, maybee your cilinder is not working correctly and it is not burning al the fuel thats comming in.

cheers Jarno
