if you want to tune them, KR1-barrels would be a better starting point than S-barrels, as there is more meat on them to play with. It's always easier to take away material, than to ad.

He asked if they were interchangeable without affecting performance and the answer is no, as there are performance differences.
You can alter KR-1 barrels and valves to 1S specs, but he didn't ask about that, so I'm just answering his question directly without elaboration.
