KR1R in Australia

Post by SmithyKR1R »

Hi not much of an auspicious start but this is the current state of the discovered parts of my KR1R.

Sitting in the shed waiting for parts.

The frame number

Should have the rear suspension links soon. the engine is in bits at the moment, I had all the cases hydroblasted.

It's not alone, sitting with 2 TZR250's. One is an SPR from 1994 and the other an ex-race bike a 1992 SP. with an MC21 SP Rothmans

Slightly more advanced in build, my RS250 NX5

All the other parts I have are in boxes, engine parts, more bodywork but I just moved house so it was all in storage so I just add bits as I find them.... Unfortunately I seem to be getting to every other bike first.

Hi, don't know if you've seen this one 'over here' as it's only just been listed?

Think it's the first one I've seen advertised, very pricey, and not very original to start with. But he's not hiding anything either.

Sorry forgot to say, what a lovely collection of bikes, (even if they are all in bits) :)

looks like the seat is going to a good home =D>
I was surprised, there seemed to be 3 overseas bidders on recent Yahoo KR stuff (and I wasNT one of these)

what you need is a GR79A to fill in the lack of suzukis

Yup, I hope so. I bought the side panels and the lower as well. That was a wallet opener.

Just need a NOS upper and screen now.....

Have you got the smaller front indicators and different mirrors fitted to the R ?

If not they take a little finding too

I have the indicators but I wasn't aware that the mirrors were different.

Must have missed that on the parts book scan...

The ones I have are really tatty...

Is there a 'visual' check?

As for the GR79 I have this much of one...

These mirrors (http://page3.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/c516297929) appear to be of the correct type, although also a little tatty.

Whats the crack with these R's?

The one on UK eBay was a piss take price wise I thought.

They appear, to me, to be a poor relation to an SP RGV/NSR?..rare for good reason?

Simple fact - they didn't make very many, probably just enough for homologation and not much more
Records seem to indicate 180 in total models D1 and D2

Compare that to the SP RGV/NSRs that become available to buy almost every week

...and how did these homoglation specials get on against RGVs and NSRs?

I see the UK one was relisted at 99p start and is now sitting at £680ish.

And he's now revised the listing so it doesn't reference a bike that's not his :)

Well the S dominated when it first came out in the UK
In Japan the R was the Kawasaki race team preferred bike instead of the S - if it had been officially imported in enough numbers into the UK ..who knows

These results look pretty good to me.. Not a h***a in sight :)
