Re: Swamp Thing - KR1 Track Bike
That's it for now - hopefully not too dull with all these photos!
The next stage is the top end but I have 3 x KR1 barrels and 1 x KR1S barrel and, as this is going to be a track bike, I think it'd be best to fit KR1S barrels for maximum power potential what do you think? Also should I go down the 300cc route with Zeeltec ignition and larger carbs or will that take me in to a world of pain?
I'm also looking at options for the frame as I'm trying to keep costs down and paint is looking like it'll be £300ish and powder coating around half that. I know it's a track bike and doesn't need to look great but I can't help myself as I want it to look as good as it goes. Perhaps i'l have to go down the polishing route but that looks like it'll take quite some time?
Above all else I'm determined to get this on the track this summer! Any advice or comments gratefully received.
Cheers!
Dave

Wow going to be a stunning track bike, and thanks for the balance shaft pics, I just ripped mine out, and thought about the timing of the balancer afterwards

I have an ultrasonic cleaner and I've used to to clean my carbs, and although it does a good job of cleaning it, its nowhere near like new

Scooble - Yes I bought a vapour blaster relatively cheap a number of years ago, before they became so popular, and it's probably one of the best purchases I've made. Great bit of kit and I use it for plastic, steel and ally parts. I'm still learning new tricks with it and it's way more versatile than a sand blaster.
Nice bike by the way and enjoyed watching your videos on youtube. =D>
Jarno/Scooble - I also use an ultrasonic cleaner but am always left disappointed in it. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong but I use the 'correct' chemicals and have tried with and without heat and whichever way I use it parts come out not quite clean or in some cases tarnished and damaged. It's a useful tool but one that I probably haven't mastered yet.
More photos to follow..

Love the way the alloy comes up after vapour blasting, top job all round!! I've used my ultrasonic and agree bits come out cleaned but the stains/alloy marks never give up and sometimes look worse afterwards.
The carbs, did you manage to get new gaskets for where the main jet/pilot tube housing joins to the main carb body?
Doug.
