Model: KR-1 (1988)
Colour: Lime Green/Polar White (B1)
Frame: KR250B-002650
Engine: [edit later]
Location: New Zealand (NZ new)
HAHA I have the oldest so far!! And its still a daily runner on 62000Km! Currently has pristine factory plastics and paint but I hate the white so I'm about to paint it "V Can" green and black similar to the KR1s versions.
I do need pistons soon though so PLEASE someone help, or I'm going to have to bin it for an RGV or NSR

the road bike is standard but tidied up as I showed on the engine thread a while back. it ison the dyno Sunday - last time it made 50 hp will see what it does Sunday. In about a weeks time it is off to Bonneville

What is not right with the bike (not standard)

how many KR-1R produced in the world...
the-elf wrote:KR-1R wrote:I have no idea how many KR-1R there are ... my only info states
KR250-D1 [1989] Beginning Frame No.: KR250C-300001
KR250-D2 [1990] Beginning Frame No.: KR250C-300501
I doubt there would be as many as 500 in each series though
Yep those frame numbers are correct

. See MJ's team sparrow website for conformation. IIRC they made 200 KR1R's each year for homoglation (spelling) purposes, so there was a total of 400 made and most of them would have been prodie raced so I doubt there are many left at all.
the answer to the ultimate question(s) - how many? how RARE?
is...
180 ! probably
get those RGV VJ23 boys to stick that up their pipes - when you can buy a VJ23 (SP) any day of the week
according to Kawasaki's (not reliable) chassis number search...
ONLY 180 KR-1R were EVER produced - 130 (D1) and 50 (D2)(domestic Japanese figures assuming zero were officially exported as NEW)
(missing #004, #006, #007, #008, #009, #011 #016, #017, #073, #082, #124, #506, #529, #534 this may be an indication which were race bikes and never Japan road registered)
no wonder the parts for NZ SP's disappeared so quickly- the 'R' models and spares were probably limited to runs of 200 off.
I'M BEGINNING TO THINK THERE MAY BE LARGE HOLES IN THE CHASSIS NUMBER RANGES - THE NEWEST CHASSIS NUMBER I KNOW OF IS 007344
SO POST UP YOUR NUMBERS (CAN LEAVE OUT THE LAST TWO DIGITS IF WORRIED ABOUT PRIVACY ISSUES)
THE TOTAL ENGINE NUMBER POOL (THAT INCLUDES all B1,B2 SERIES) ONLY GOES UP TO EARLY ?9000?'s ie KR250BE-009123
SO THAT LEAVES THE CONCLUSION THERE IS NOT 8000 C MODELS OUT THERE - MAYBE LESS THAN HALF THAT - IF 4000 ODD OF THE ENGINE POOL WAS PART OF B SERIES BIKES.
VJ23 update - in the later months of 2009 and early 2010 VJ23 have all but disappeared from the Jap second hand market (yahoo auctions)

Mine KR-1S is from 1991
Model: KR250-C3 (1991)
Colour: Firecracker Red/Pearl Gentry Gray (C3)
Frame: KR250C007943
Look like I've have the newest frame.
There was around 10 pcs. of KR-1 and KR-1S sold that year in Croatia and Slovenia.
But now there are maybe only 5 .
