Yes, you can machine them up if you have access to the right equipment. Mr Bung even had a batch machined up a while back out of steel. Aluminium will of course be easier to machine though.

Can't really comment on the other things, since I'm not in the UK, but BDK seems to be pretty well regarded by most on here.

Why's that? You can order them at every Kwak dealer.

KR1 power valves are NLA and the stock of KR1S valves is also disappearing rapidly. If you get some machined up then go for the KR1S F3 race kit design as they are easier to machine but they are right and left handed.

Also if they are manufactured from a decent aero grade Alloy bar, you'll end up with a far stronger valve which won't break unlike the cast originals.

I must also see about getting some Clutch Stars made from bar stock as well for the same reasons.

I got another nooby question too..where do you get your barrels plated?

ooh and another..anyone know of a good crank re-build service?
I've used BDK a lot for barrel plating and crank rebuilds and have never faulted there service. They are not the quickest in the world but they are very busy so you have to wait for quality :D

Thanks,I'll give BDK a call on Monday.

Cheeers Elf...Any idea where I can get the specs for those valves and for the KR1 standard valves?

I got to admit I was a little bit down about the bike yesterday,I don't want a 2 year project, just waiting for a power valve or some discs,I just want to get on with it and get riding.

The brake discs look like being the biggest problem,is it possible to get new discs put onto the original rotors?

When you use KR1S-valves in KR1-barrels (as I do), just take the dremel out and adapt the barrels accordingly. Piece of cake.

They are very simular to KR1S valve but with the the inner side of the cast square hole removed to make them either left or right handed. I have a picture of them somewhere so I'll try and post it later as I'm at work and can't access photo bucket though the work network.

Sorry for the delay getting back to you all....mother had a lumpectomy last Tuesday so I've been a bit busy looking after her.

I've spoken to my engineer and he can do the valves...but he really needs a blueprint or some precise measurements first.

Is anyone interested in buying some valves? I'm going to get some standard KR1 and some F3 made up. (if the price is right)

That dosn't look to healthy mate, in fact, it looks damn nasty. Is that a broken collar bone, or a dislocated shoulder? . Hopeing that's the only major damage you got.
What speed were you doing when you mucked up, and is there anything much left of the bike?
Hope you recover soon mate.

Cheers, Scott.

PS. let us know if the vid makes it onto youtube.
