Well done Richard for believing this could be the problem =D> . I was very sceptical myself when it was suggested.
I think cleaning old pipes out has got to be well worth the trip.I am sure you can easilly lose 2/3 BHP without even really noticing.
All the pipes I refurb now get acid dipped beforehand.
