Hi Dave,

Thanks for your response,

Saying about the origin of the pistons... I do not know if they are made in Japan or made in Taiwan, but they have the PROX stamped on them..I got these pistons from Langcourt - same place where I got the barrels replated.
My project is going slowly at the moment bur once I get the engine running, I will keep you posted...Hopefully all parts are OK...
One more question. You said about the gudgeon pins. So I want to follow your recommendation and fit the 4DP TZ ones. Any idea where I can get them from?
Many thanks for your comments,
Varonos

Hi mate,
If they have Prox stamped inside there the Good ones that Mitaka used to sell under there banner(jap made) so must be some old stock.
I never had probs with any of the parts that came with the Prox type, the clips/gudgeoun pins and rings were all fine and good quality.
Have you got the C clips with no tail or with?
If no tail then just fit them,if they have a tail then use the TZ 4dp (92/93 model),i get mine from Dennis Trollope or you can try Fondseca who sell genuine Tz bits on ebay.
If the tail type ones are a decent thickness you can just snip the tail off with some cutters and dress the end,but if there very weak dont bother doing this.
I will have a measure of some i have done this with and let you know what thickness they are.
The gudgeon pins are normally ok,just make sure there a sliding push fit in the piston, sometimes they go in one way easier than the other.
If there tight you need to check the piston has no burrs where the pin pushes through,if all looks ok use some fine wet/dry where the pin sits(in the piston boss) until they go in with no effort.
Th pin needs to be able to rotate freely in the piston, dont heat the piston up to fit the pin.
Regarding the oil control ring, its not really needed and can sometimes cause probs after a few thousand miles when they become brittle,so whatever rings(RK or non branded) came with the kit leave it out.
It really only helps with blow by at very low rpm(below 3000),how often does a kr sit idling or get used at them low revs?if it does youve bought the wrong bike :D
HTH
