Before I put the wiring loom in place I am taking the connectors out of the blocks, so that I can clean the contact block body and the contact surfaces.....some are still a bit dirty :(
Image

The contacts can be removed by gently pushing a small flat blade screwdriver in the small groove under the front of the contact (this lifts a small locating tab and you can pull the contact out of the back of the block)

I use a solvent cleaner and a small brush to flush out all the crud...
Image

I then clean the contact surfaces with a fibre glass contact cleaning pen...

It is then reassembled.....

And on to the next one.....

Still a few more to go.....

Hi Paul,
Great to see you are back online :)

The bike is coming along at long last, I nearly blinded myself when I took a photo without turning the flash off
I am glad I have finished polishing bits as I knackered my polishing arm lifting/fitting some french doors

Have you started on any of your other projects yet?

Cheers
Bernie :)

Thanks mate. I've got the Z1000r in bits now and I'll probably be taking the frame and some other stuff down to Romax for powder coating after Christmas.
I've been buying bits and pieces for the old girl all year, and I think I'm nearly there although I'm saving for a Kerker 4-1, and a pair of piggyback Ohlins. Not cheap
It'll be a more difficult job than the KR1s, but it is a Lawson rep :D

I'll keep an eye on your thread and I'll have to see it in the flesh when it's finished.

I will have to see the lawson when it is progressing, but I don't like the modern 4 stroke performance pipes, I like the old style thin 4:1 yoshimuras :)

Just had another look at the White 1000Rs....

And the Kerker is not as big as I thought it was, but still big enough to put a smile on Michael Barrymores' face

P.S. The White ones are the best, they look a lot quicker than the green ones

I think I am going to have to dig through the old photos to find out exactly where this lot goes
Image
I have inadvertently dumped a load of parts including the standard clips for holding the reservoir in place, found some huge ugly ones to hold it in place for the moment :)

I like this version....the one with two kickstarts

Thanks Ben
It is nice to see it "bike shape" and the shelves in my parts cupboards are slowly emptying :)

you'll probably have to do something with that left pipe to stop the chain from eating it, but my experience with standard configuration is limited so I could be wrong.

It looks very close to where the standard pipe was, but we will see, not ready to put the chain on yet.
I still have a new front sprocket to fit, and change all the plastic engine covers for new ones :)
