you could send it to someone like aaron rads and get it reconditioned. Considering the standard we're talking on you're project, I certainly think it's worth contacting them and asking for a quote.

I have seen the standard of you rebuild Bernie, and know why you are not happy with it.

You could stay at it, soak it in warm water and use a pick to get the crap out - slow and tedious.

When the stone guard is on over it, it would not draw the eye, maybe it would be ok until a NOS one turns up?

It only looks bad because the rest is so good

I had another look at my one, It was the same as yours and is now clear.

I used a stiff bristled scrubbing brush, bit bigger than a nail brush - and went from top to bottom, trying to push the bristles between the fins. Plenty of hot water and it will come good.

The fins can take a bit of scrubbing once you go from top to bottom.

I have my eye on the missus steam cleaner, it has some nice brush attachments that I think will do the job.

for work I clean blocked rad's from forklifts with spraying brake cleaner on the blockages and then blow compressed air from the rear. but guess that the the dirt just needs to be wet. the most horrible part of your job is after that it's clean, straightening all the little fin's with a small screwdriver
