Hi Jan,
The back of the rad looks like it has been a target for a BB gun :(

straighten radiator fins repair

Post by KR-1R »

.
.
I use the clear plastic sealed packaging from items bought (tools, memory cards etc anti-tamper packaging) - I also collect this for mixing glues etc on.

Ice cream container lids are thicker (closer to fin spacing) and still flexible - cut this to suitable strips (pointed helps if when only part of the fin is bent) and can delicately maneauver into bent fin and lever back straight.

you may find you can push the strip all the way through helping straighten the opposite face of the radiator - better than a tapering screwdriver

yes, on the plastic. I use the side of an old oil bottle/can, just about the right thickness.
Also if you know someone with an ultrasonic tank that you can lie it flat it it works wonders, the dirt will fall out easily, but needs to be big enough to go flat, in my smaller one the rad sits vertical and it doesn't shift it anywhere as good

I have soaked it in hot water, brushed it and it still looks crap

I am not giving up yet (but I am not far away) ](*,)
That mud splash on the rad is a right git to get out, soaked in cleaner for 24hrs, jizzer actually. Then washed carefully scrubbed blew out with air line took a few attempts to get it clean cheers

Not much room to do anything in the garage at the moment....

That's what happens if you have it too tidy, other people stick their unwanted items in it (furniture village leather recliners £150.00 to a good home, collection only - SOLD)

Good results with the steam cleaner :)
Two big black marks on the patio that need sorting out now :(

Need to plan a quite evening at a premier inn to sort out the bent fins.

got this weird image of the door of the premier inn with a 'do not disturb' sign on the door handle with the staff lined up outside listening at the door with a wire brush on metal sound eminating from the room (may be the basis of my next book 'fifty shades of green') :)

Hi Bernie, so what's the news on the body work, paint or a good clean for this year, I think you should get it painted before she comes out to play. That's just my opinion anyway. I thought about doing mine beginning last year but then thought na full dress and battle colours for me lol
