99% done now
Still need a front mudguard but can MOT it without one
One Bar end mirror
New Number plate
Will need a shakedown run to check the carburation
And no the Baby isn't in the pram in the garage
It's got Triumph Steve McQueen handlebar grips yer know

Cheers Bernie
Got to get one but the new wheel means the muddy will need lowering 1/2 inch

It looks really nice, I keep thinking that I should get an old thumper to play with, then I think about all the twostrokes and I end up with a headache

I am in the west midlands tomorrow, I may call in at Cradley to look at their old triples

Maiden run today with mixed results
Carburation seems to be the issue

The banging it is making on the overrun sounds like a night in Beirut

plus as I get the revs on I'm not sure if it's getting a bit choked at the top end or the rev limiter is making an appearance
It has no Tacho though so you aren't sure what revs you are at
A trip to the dyno is what I need to do to get a clearer picture of what's going on
I got all my jetting suggestions off the Triumph site for my setup so should be in the ball park
Got an oil leak out the gear shift shaft too but it is a Triumph
Nice comfy ride though and wasn't expecting it to pull stumps out of the ground but it showed me what a pearl of an engine the YPVS motor is

I wouldn't believe it was a genuine British bike if it didn't have an oil leak somewhere Martin.
Looks fantastic, good luck on the dyno ironing out the carburetion.

I did jet up 6 sizes on the mains but that was with a gutted airbox and open pipes ,That was recommended on various Trumpet sites
One size up on the pilots,a shim under the needle as the needle has no clip positions and the fuel screw turned out from 2 1/2 to 3 1/4 to let more fuel in at idle
From cold it does have a flat spot which clears up once warm but may need richening up even more on the slow running system

Been told to order some "Thruxton" needles which are supposed to give a punchier throttle response
Will try these first and if I get no joy then I will have to get it dynoed just to see what is going on up the top end

Well put the Thruxton needles in and is a lot better
These make it run richer so must have been a tad lean
Still not sure what's happening at the top end so a dyno run will give some prognosis I guess
Going in the right direction now though I hope
Got a mirror at last too
Changed the leaking gearshaft seal too which came out easier than I expected as I expected a fight

Martin I hope the mirror is a Halcyon bar end job!

Good guess and correct
But

It ain't as good as they make out ....Looks like the one I received ,they pushed a bit hard with the buffing wheel and rippled the stainless plate on the other side of the mirror body
Contacted them but I told them I need the mirror as I'm on the road now and don't want to be without ones for my safety etc
So told them to send me a replacement mirror body, then I will send the faulty one back which will mean I will have a mirror at all times
Sounds logical to me but it don't work like that does it
